This was easy and yummy - one that I will make again for sure. I used regular tomatoes, but that was the only change from the original recipe. Very Good. - 10/9/09

Oh my goodness that was yummy! I used whole wheat pasta and fresh spinach instead of frozen. I also used the Italian Herb ground turkey breast instead of adding italian seasoning. The only ingredient I excluded was the gree chilies... My mom's allergic. It turned out fantastic! - 6/26/09

This is AWESOME!! I used whole wheat penne pasta and cut up pieces of turkey from one that I roasted. It was a tad spicy, my husband and I liked it, but the kids complained about it. Next time I will cut up the spinach first and use plain diced tomatoes. - 2/2/09

This was fantastic!!! I did not add the sour cream or parmesan cheese (because we were out) and I thought it turned out great! My husband thought it was delicious and said the next day that he had been looking forward to the leftovers all day. Definitely a keeper! I will make this again. - 9/22/08

I was pretty disappointed by how this one came out. I think I was expecting a lot out of this recipe because the ratings are so high. Neither my husband or I liked it very much. It was just ok and I won't be making it again. - 9/24/12

Very good and so full of flavor, we did not miss all the extra cheese that I would usually have put on a casserole like this. Will be one of our favorites and will definately make again. - 6/21/12

Omg! This is to die for. I followed the recipe exactly, except for cutting it in half since there are only two of us. I still used the whole can of tomatoes and the full package of spinach (we love veggies) and it still had all the flavor!! I love this and will be making all the time!! - 7/11/15

Just made this and couldn't wait to rave about it! The combination of the hot peppers with the creaminess of the sour cream is super. The only change I made was to add a quarter of a few mushrooms and bit of red and green pepper chopped to the onion sauté. - 7/26/13

Overall, this recipe is easy to make, delicious, and nutritious. I do make modifications though. I use whole grain pasta, use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, use only parmesan cheese (mozzarella is just too caloric), and add lots sauteed veggies like zucchini, squash, mushrooms, etc. - 8/1/11

Use my simple no-cook method of precooking the pasta. Just soak the pasta in warm salted water before adding it to the other ingredients and sliding the mixture into the oven. Presoaking is a way to begin hydrating the pasta and washing away some of its starch, even as the salt in the water pre-seasons the pasta.
The sauce and tomatoes in this Italian recipe provide enough moisture to bake it uncovered. Some pasta bake recipes may require covering to retain adequate moisture and prevent drying. It's always best to follow the method in the recipe.
Dried pasta needs to be par-boiled, then drained before using it in baked dishes. Just boil for half the time specified on the package. There is a type of dried no-boil lasagna sheets that don't require par-boiling, but they need extra water added to the sauce.
PREHEAT oven to 425 degrees. COMBINE uncooked pasta, 1 jar of Sauce and 1 jar of water in a 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Cover with aluminum foil. BAKE 30 minutes.
By skipping the separate boiling of the pasta and instead adding the dried noodles straight to the sauce, you can make a weeknight-friendly meal in just one pot. Bonus: It makes the pasta more flavorful, too.
Then, add another layer of pasta and sauce and finish with a final layer of cheese. Cover the dish with foil and bake the casserole for 35 minutes at 350°F. Lastly, remove the foil and bake the casserole for 10-15 more minutes until the cheese is bubbly!
Make the sauce little goey, add reserved pasta cooked water then add pasta and toss well. Adding pasta cooked water does the trick of keeping the paste moist even after baking.
By skipping the separate boiling of the pasta and instead adding the dried noodles straight to the sauce, you can make a weeknight-friendly meal in just one pot. Bonus: It makes the pasta more flavorful, too.
Adding the pasta to water that isn't boiling will actually increase your overall cook time and cause your pasta to sit in the water longer. You will end up with pasta that has absorbed too much water with a mushy texture. Be patient and wait for a rapid boil; it'll pay off.
Cooking pasta in the sauce instead of in boiling water will increase the amount of time it takes to cook through. It's a good technique to use if you want to delay serving your pasta for a few minutes. Make sure to keep the sauce thinned out with pasta water as the pasta finishes cooking if you use this method.
